Salman Khan, the Indian Superstar, is a worldwide darling for billions of people. His name alone is enough to fill cinema theatres. Salman began his acting career with Biwi Ho To Aisi, but it was his starring performance in his second film, Maine Pyar Kiya, that earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He starred in many commercially successful films, including Saajan (1991), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), Judwaa (1997), Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998), Biwi No.1 (1999), and Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999). He has played the lead role in the highest grossing films for nine straight years, a record that has not been broken. Throughout his career, Salman Khan has been active in several charitable causes. He has founded an organisation called Being Human that sells T-shirts and other merchandise. A percentage of the proceeds are donated to charitable organizations that assist the disadvantaged.
Salman's home town of Mumbai is amongst his favourite cities to spend leisure time with his friends and family. His farmhouse in Panvel is one of his favourite hotspots to spend quality time with his loved ones, host get togethers and generally hang around away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With 3 bungalows, a lavish pool, sports club and a horses stable, this spacious farm house is spread over acres of land surrounded by farms and hills. Salman has a fascination for horses and he makes sure to spend quality time horse-riding and taking care of his pet horses on the farm. He also enjoys farming on the nearby land and trekking around the hills surrounding the farm. White lounge chairs, palm trees, and a large image of Buddha lend the space a serene and peaceful vibe. The farm is named 'Arpita farms' after his adopted sister Arpita Khan Sharma, who is also a frequent visitor to the lovely farm.
The glamourous city of Dubai is another favourite hotspot for Salman, who's loved being in the city for his shootings, shows and socializing with his friends. A city with a huge expatriate population of South Asians, who form the majority population here, Salman has a massive fan following in Dubai. Salman has frequented the Meydan Racecourse in Dubai to watch racing of horses, venue for the Dubai World Cup, the most prestigious horse racing event in the region. Dubai has gained huge popularity with South Asian travelers in recent times. Its proximity to the region and cultural familiarity, coupled with a wide variety of attractions, make it a popular choice for a holiday for Indians. Dubai has a gorgeous marina where one chill out and unwind at the plethora of pubs, cafes and restaurants. The Palm Jumeriah is the World's largest man made island, home to luxurious homes and hotels and a real architectural wonder worth a visit when in Dubai.
Salman had a fantastic time shooting for his movie 'Tiger 3' in the Cappadocia region of Turkey. Turkey is a gorgeous country with incredible monuments, scenic natural wonders and a glorious background given its colorful history. The capital city of Istanbul is the economic and cultural hub of Turkey and has iconic monuments such as the Hagia Sophia Mosque, basilica cistern and the Topkapi Palace. Salman & Katrina shot their popular movie song with Cappadocia's other-worldly landscapes in the background. One of the most unique regions of Turkey, Cappadocia is known for its ancient mountain caves and rustic landscape, which can be best explored with a ride in a hot air balloon. Hiking around the uncanny terrain and exploring the mountain caves is a truly unforgettable experience here. One can even choose to stay in a mountain cave hotel, an experience that can take one back in time when people used to live in mountain caves here.
Salman had a wonderful time at the IIFA event in Colombo, an experience that inspired him to move the shooting of his film - Ready - from Mauritius to Srilanka. A land of incredible scenic beauty, Srilanka is a gem in the Indian ocean. Its exotic beaches and luxury sea side hotels, ancient Buddhist monuments and National Parks attract millions of tourists from across the globe. The popular Ramayana trail attracts devout hindus to visit Srilanka and follow the trail taken by Sita when she was captured by Ravana. There are Buddhist temples and stupas all around Srilanka, the most popular amongst them being the temple in Kandy that houses the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha and therefore is venerated by devotees of the Buddhist faith from all over. Nature lovers should take a trip to the Yala National Park in South east Srilanka, a wildlife sanctuary that is a perfect place to enjoy Safari holidays and come face to face with leopards, majestic elephants, sloth bears, sambars, jackals, spotted dear, peacocks, and crocodiles.
Salman Khan has shot a couple of his movies in Greece. He visited Santorini and Paros islands in Greece for shooting the film - Wanted - and the island of Naxos for shooting the blockbuster - Tiger Zinda Hai - with his co-star Katrina Kaif. One of the most exotic destinations in the Mediterranean region, Greece has the longest coastline in Europe and is home to picturesque islands such as Crete, Mykonos, Naxos, Milos, Paros, Ios, Lefkada, Zakynthos, Rhodes etc., luxurious sea-side resorts, an incredible nightlife and outstanding views of the vast blue ocean. The city of Athens is also home to iconic historical monuments such as the Acropolis, Knossos Palace, Sanctuary of Delphi and many more. Cruising along the coastline of Greece in a catamaran or a yacht is a must have experience, where one can explore exotic marine life such as dolphins and whales in their natural habitat.
