Nancy had a wonderful time holidaying in Jordan, an Arab country located on the banks of the Jordan river. Jordan is known for its majestic mountains, ancient caves and sea side resorts. It is home to incredible archaeological sites in the city of Petra, located in Jordan’s southwestern desert, known for beautiful rock-cut architecture and innovative water management system built thousands of years ago. Nancy loved visiting the ruins of Petra, half-carved into the rocks and surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges. It is truly a place straight out of history, where ancient Eastern traditions blend with Hellenistic architecture. Petra is counted amongst the 7 wonders of the World. One can explore caves, temples and tombs carved in pink sandstone deep in the desert of the ‘Rose City’, a truly mesmerizing sight, as if you have travelled back in time or to a planet far away.

Egypt is an incredible journey back in time, as Nancy discovered on her trip here with her friends. Known for its ancient pyramids, temples and museums, Egypt is also called the Cradle of Western Civilization. It attracts millions of history buffs each year who come here to admire the glorious heritage of this ancient land. One of Nancy’s fondest memories in Egypt was taking a Cruise from Luxor to Aswan on a gorgeous cruise ship as it glided through the Nile stopping along the way to admire iconic temples and monuments. In Luxor, she visited the capital of the Pharaohs and its impressive architectural legacy: the Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, Colossi of Memnon, and Temple of Hatshepsut. She loved the city of Cairo for its rustic charm and was equally fascinated by the local cuisine of Egypt, which had a remarkable aroma & taste. Do check out the National Museum of Egyptian civilization on a guided tour when in Cairo, a must visit for those who have an avid interest in history.

Algeria is a charming country in the MENA region with its Mediterranean coastline and beaches, colonial architecture, Roman ruins and the Sahara desert. Oran is one of Nancy’s favourite places in Algeria. Inspired by the seaside resort town of Nice in the French Riviera, Oran is a pleasant beach town with beach side hotels, local markets and tasty street food. The city has a vibrant night life and there are clubs at local resorts where one can have a fantastic time. Visit the beaches of Madagh 1 and Madagh 2 for an incredible views of the Mediterranean ocean.
