Fann Wong is a Singaporean actress of Chinese ethnicity who rose to prominence first in Taiwan as a TV commercial model for Olay skincare products in 1992, and then in Singapore as the youngest Best Actress winner in the history of Singapore's Star Awards (1995). Since then, she has acted in several critically acclaimed television dramas and films, including 1998's Return of the Condor Heroes and 2003's The Truth About Jane and Sam (1999). She was also a prolific vocalist who released many best-selling pop albums in Taiwan and collaborated with British boyband 911. In 2003, she starred in the Hollywood movie Shanghai Knights (2003), which boosted her international recognition. Since then, she has been in several films and drama series, including Just Follow Law (2007) and Jintai-Pan (2009). She was honored in Hollywood for her performance in Dance of the Dragon (2008). CNNGo named her one of Asia's 25 greatest actors of all time !
Japan is one of Fann's favourite countries. She fell in love with Japan on her very first visit here, totally awed by its incredible landscape, warm people, glorious heritage and delicious cuisine. Izakaya hopping in Tokyo was a truly unforgettable experience for her, the nightlife of this city is mesmerizing. These small Japanese pubs are a great place to mingle with locals and try out local food items that are generally not served in fancy restaurants. Japan has a variety of Shinto and Buddhist temples that are truly worth a visit for their incredible architecture and peaceful atmosphere. One can meet Buddhist monks in most of these temples and seek their blessings. Popular temples to visit in Japan are the Kinkaku-ji Temple in Kyoto, Shitenoji temple in Osaka and Senso-ji temple in Tokyo. A trip to the Jigokudani Park was one of her most memorable excursions; where one gets to see snow monkeys soaking in the natural hot springs in an environment that is scenic & picturesque.
Thailand is a favourite holiday destination for almost everyone who's been here, and Fann is no exception. She had a wonderful time in Chiang Mai, located in the mountainous region of Northern Thailand. Known for its hill tribes, lush rainforests, elephant sanctuaries, and a fantastic night life; Chiang Mai is a culturally diverse town with amazing outdoors. Visiting the Meakland Elephant Sky Camp was one of her most memorable excursions in Chiang Mai. This ethical elephant sanctuary is a haven for getting up close and bonding with these majestic animals. Chiang Mai is a city of temples with exquisite architecture; such as the White and Blue temples and the Baan Dam Museum. Temples here are distinct as compared to the traditional Thai golden temples found in Bangkok or Phuket. A visit to the Chiang Dao valley is another incredible experience, where one can admire the wild scenery of the Chiang Dao Jungle, and venture underground to explore the Buddhist shrines of Chiang Dao Cave.
Fann Wong had a wonderful time on her visit to Srilanka, an island country located in the south of India, also called the 'Pearl of the Indian Ocean' Srilanka's tropical climate, beautiful beaches, National parks and delicious cuisine is a huge draw for tourists. The island nation also boasts of gorgeous Buddhist temples, monasteries and historical monuments that are a testimony of its glorious heritage. Staying at a beach resort in Negombo was a truly enticing experience for Fann. The capital city of Colombo has gorgeous buddhist temples. A trip to the Sigiriya Rock ruins and the cave temples of Dambulla from Colombo is a must do activity in Srilanka. For wildlife enthusiasts, Yala National Park offers incredible safari holidays where you can watch elephants, leopards and a variety of exotic birds in their natural environment. There are various wildlife lodges, luxury tents and resorts inside the Yala National Park where one can stay to enjoy a magnificent safari holiday in Sri lanka.
Fann had wonderful memories of her trip to Australia. She became particularly fond of Gold Coast, a major tourist attraction on Australia's east coast in Queensland, popular for its long sandy beaches and theme parks. A haven for water sports lovers, Gold Coast offers fantastic options for surfing, snorkeling and scuba diving. One can hire a boat or a yatch to go deeper into the water and explore the marine life of the area, such as dolphins, whales and an exotic range of fishes. An extreme jet boat ride was one of Fann's most scintillating excursions in Gold Coast. A paradise for families, Gold Coast boasts of some of the best theme parks down under, such as Dream World, Movie World and Sea World. Dream World, the biggest of the three, offers a range of thrill rides, exciting shows, water park fun and animal interactions all in one theme park.
Fann had a lovely vacation in Sanya, a coastal city in the South of China known for its gorgeous beaches, upscale hotels and water sports. Spending quality time on the beaches of Yalong Bay was a real stress buster for Fann. She also had a relaxing time enjoying the traditional spa treatments at the Sanya Zhujiang Nantian Spa, which houses over 70 Jacuzzi pools. A hiking trip in the Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise National Park was an enjoyable excursion too. The Lost Chamber Aquarium at the Atlantis hotel in Sanya is a major draw for tourists, with its wide variety of marine life on display in large glass chambers. The mermaid show here is really worth a watch, making this excursion popular with family tourists coming to Sanya. The Acquaventure water park located at the same hotel is also a major attraction for kids, with its exciting range of rides such as Rapids River, Wave Pool, Rocket Blaster, Tornado Spin, Aquaduct, etc.
