Chris Hemsworth shares his 5 favourite Holiday Destinations

Chris Hemsworth, an acclaimed Australian actor and the Sexiest Man Alive according to People magazine, debuted in Hollywood with the science fiction blockbuster Star Trek (2009), but it was his lead role in the superhero film Thor (2011) that brought him to global recognition. In the superhero blockbusters - The Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (2019), he reprised the character. During the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours, he was named a member of the Order of Australia for his contributions to the performing arts and charity organisations. He has appeared in films shot in Australia but has never filmed an Australian film.

Chris had a fantastic time on his travel to Kangaroo Islands off the coast of Australia. Known for its sublime beaches and National Parks, Kangaroo Islands is home to a wide array of wildlife and a perfect destination for nature lovers. One of his favourite excursions on the island was taking a snorkeling tour from Christmas Cove Marina for viewing marine life, from long-nosed seals to dolphins. Snorkeling in the pristine waters around the Island provides an incredible opportunity to come up close to these magnificent sea creatures and is a really mesmerizing experience. Wine lovers can take a tour of the local wineries for wine tasting with local cheese platters. For adventure lovers, no better way to explore the rustic beauty of the Island than taking a quad bike (ATV) tour that takes you through the rugged landscape & pristine beaches. One does not need a license to ride the ATVs, so the whole family can take part in this excursion.

Driving down the scenic highways of New Zealand from from Christchurch to Queenstown was an incredible experience for Chris on his holidays in NZL. Crossing the vast Canterbury Plains along the inland scenic routes, one crosses the Mackenzie country, one of the most beautiful valleys in New Zealand. One can visit the picturesque town of Lake Tekapo, and take a dip in the Tekapo Springs hot pools. Pool temperatures range from forty degrees celsius to thirty-six degrees celsius and each pool offers something different - massage jets to assist in taking away any aches and pains and fountains to splash under. Skiing with friends on the Aoroki Mount Cook was the most memorable part of his trip. One can hire a ski plane to land on the Tasman glacier, skiing down to the bottom of the mountain. This UNESCO World heritage area is an incredible place to enjoy outstanding views of the mountain ranges as one skies on an easy to moderate terrain, taking in the gorgeous views all around.

Costa Rica is popular for its exotic beaches, volcanoes and biodiversity. Chris had a lovely vacation in this Caribbean country that attracts millions of eco-tourists each year. Costa Rica is blessed with waterfalls and hotsprings, notable amongst them being Llanos de Cortes, La Paz and the La Fortuna Waterfalls. A paradise for hikers, Costa Rica has an abundance of lush green forests, National Parks and dormant volcanoes. A guided tour of the local volcanoes was the most memorable experience for Chris. Watching these ecological wonders from a close distance is a truly remarkable moment. One can also hire a yacht or a cruise to explore the marine life from the Costa Rica coast, with close encounters with Whales, turtles and Dolphins almost a certainty. A truly acquisitive destination with a plethora of adventure activities on offer, Costa Rica makes it to the list of favourite holiday hotspots for Chris Hemsworth.

The French Riviera is one of the most exotic parts of Europe. A hotspot for celebrities and millionaires; this coastal region located in the South of France boasts of beautiful towns and villages; notable amongst them being Nice, Cannes, Monaco and Saint Tropez. Chris and his friends hired a yacht to explore the coastal towns and islands. They had a fantastic time on this journey across the blue waters of the Riviera, snorkeling and swimming along the way to enjoy close encounters with marine life. Chefs on the yacht served them an array of local delicacies and there was a non stop supply of local wines & beverages to keep the party on. Watching the Monaco Grand Prix and gambling at the Casino de Monte Carlo, the grandest casino in the region, was an absolutely delightful experience for Chris.

Chris landed a chance trip to Marrakech in Morocco while visiting the south of Europe and has fond memories of this rather unique destination. The city is highly popular with tourists thanks to its impressive architecture, traditional food, exotic culture, and fantastic shopping in its many markets or bazaars. One can visit the Sahara desert for an adventure of a lifetime, riding on a camel or driving around on an ATV. One can also choose to stay in a tented accommodation in the desert, with local dances and food included in the package. Marrakech also offers exquisite Moroccan and Arabian street food at its many road side joints, an absolute treat for foodies. Do try the Moroccan Spa and Hammam for a range of traditional relaxing massages, a must have experience for tourists to Morocco.
