Barbara had a wonderful vacation with her family in the French province of Quebec in Eastern Canada, one of the most beautiful provinces in Canada. The family stayed at Château Frontenac, the most iconic and popular hotel designed like a French chateau, located in Quebec city. With 400 years of history, Quebec city is more akin to a French town and gives a European feel to the visitors. A walking tour of Old Quebec, with its small shops, cafes and narrow streets inside walls and gates, takes one back in time. Outdoor lovers can head out to Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier to hike, fish, camp, canoe, and kayak. This huge mountainous plateau has deep gorges, hiking trails, and spectacular landscapes. Quebec city has an incredible dance & music scene with concerts and shows happening throughout the year. For ski lovers, there are 4 mountains in the vicinity that offer incredible skiing avenues throughout the winter months.
Rio is one of Barbara’s favourite cities and she has visited the city many times, especially during the annual carnival. A city of many colours, Rio di Janeiro is known for its Copacabana, Prainha and Ipanema beaches and the iconic statue of ‘Christ – the Redeemer’ standing tall on its coastline. For nature lovers, an incredible place to visit here is the Tijuca National Park - the largest urban rainforest on the planet. The natural beauty of the park is truly mesmerizing: it features diverse terrains, waterfalls, over 1,600 plant species and 350 different species of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles. The park is visited by over three million visitors a year, most of whom visit the Carioca Hill, best known as the home of the Christ the Redeemer statue on the 2,330-foot Corcovado summit. The annual carnival in Rio is one of the grandest of its kind on the planet, attracting millions of tourists from all across the World who come in to enjoy the extravaganza and participate in the festivities.
Barbara had a stint with Indian movies starring in the film – Kites, opposite one of Bollywood’s biggest sensations & superstars, Hrithik Roshan. She visited Mumbai multiple times for shoots and promotions and loved the love showered upon her in this far off land. The hub of hindi movie industry, Mumbai is the largest metropolis in India and the country’s financial capital too. A city that never sleeps, Mumbai has an incredible nightlife with a plethora of pubs, dance clubs and cafes across the city. Being the epicentre of Bollywood, there is a good chance of bumping into a movie star or a celebrity across its popular nightlife venues. Popular for its outstanding beaches, luxury resorts, delicious sea food and a plethora of beach side bars and clubs; Goa is a magnet for tourists all year round.
One of the most exotic islands in the West Indies, Bahamas is a favourite vacation hotspot in Barbara’s books. These palm-fringed tropical islands surrounded by turquoise waters offer a range of luxury resorts and villas attracting high profile tourists from the World over. Top activities in the Bahamas include water sports, fishing, boating, diving, snorkelling, sailing and duty-free shopping. Barbara had a wonderful time hiring a yacht and going deep into the ocean with her group. As they explored the blue waters of the Caribbean, they had a change to witness the exotic marine life from up close and also indulge in deep sea diving and snorkel. On board, the chefs provided an un-ending supply of exotic foods and drinks, as the traveling party danced their way around the Caribbean sea.
